Finding My Place reviewed by Kate

Finding My place, written by Anne Aly, or Azza Mahmoud Fawzy Housseini Ali Al Serougi as she was born, is an incredible story of an Australian politician who was born in Egypt. Anne Aly writes from her heart with honesty about her experiences leading up to and including being the first Australian Muslim Woman to be elected into Federal Parliament into Australia.

I love how she is so open and honest about the difficulties, racism, personal hiccups and perseverance she has had to have and live through to meet her dream of being  a strong, influential woman. This would be a great book for high schools – an insight into politics and the world you have to negotiate – racism, feminism, honesty and the experience of Muslims in Australian and abroad.
