This book is a memoir from one of Australia’s playwrights. It is written in chapters but not necessarily in chronological order. Each chapter is an amusing or quirky little anecdote on part of Hannie’s life. You see the real Hannie emerge from girl to professional, wife and mother, but mostly it’s just a very funny book that had me laughing out loud a lot. Hannie has a gift for writing and doesn’t take herself too seriously, she writes in a way that you get a sense of her rich world and expressive self. I would like to have a friend like Hannie, witty, colourful and pretty connected to the world around her.
I would highly recommend this book, and moreover Hannie being one of our most distinguished playwrights is worth knowing more about. She’s simply amazing.
