How to be Happy: A Memoir of Love, Sex and Teenage Confusion by David Burton

How to be Happy

David Burton writes frankly about his youth growing up with parents with mental health issues, younger twin brothers with Asperger’s Syndrome, and his own struggles with depression, anxiety and identity.

Not fitting in at high school his saving grace is drama which he becomes heavily involved in. Particular teachers help him find himself and what he enjoys but real happiness and self-acceptance are illusive and he puts up fronts to try and cope. Finally they come crashing down and he has to take a long hard look in the mirror and deal with what is there.

For all of the young adults and adults who feel they don’t or didn’t belong, this tackles some of the key issues for young people today.
