In the Garden of the Fugitives reviewed by Marie

A dialogue between a wealthy 70 year old man, Royce, who lives in Boston and is dying and his former protégé, Vita, who lives in Australia. In alternate chapters Royce tells of his love for Kitty, an anthropologist who worked in Pompeii, and of his attempts to forget her. Vita’s guilt about her background in South Africa is revealing. Her time in America is also revealing. Worth reading.
