The Art of Friendship follows two woman, Libby and Kit, through thirty or so years of their lives. They meet as eleven year olds when Libby moves in to the house across the road from Kit. They instantly bond and the friendship begins.
Friendship between two women is often a complex relationship, growing and evolving as the years progress. Lisa Ireland skilfully shows us how wonderful, horrible, intense and soul searching this relationship can be. Her novel has moments we will all recognise and hopefully learn from. The conclusion is believable and thankfully not sugar coated. A very enjoyable and satisfying read.
