The Promise Seed by Cass Moriarty

The Promise Seed

The Promise Seed starts with six year old boy in 1944. When his baby sister dies in questionable circumstances he is sent to a home where he lives until his mid-teens.

Another boy is introduced in current time, who we find out is living next door to the other boy, who is now in his seventies. At only ten years old this boy lives with his often absent mother and a parade of unsavoury friends and boyfriends. He has to manage independently a lot of the time.

The two meet and bond over the man’s chickens and garden, and save each other from dangerous situations. But their friendship is challenged, and secrets kept and made arise. In flashbacks over the man’s life and the development of their friendship, we find out that these two are not so different.
