The Reader on the 6.27

Jean-Paul Didierlauren is a well- known French author and this novel has been a best-seller. Translated by Ros Schwartz it tells the story of a man who hates his job in a book pulping factory, and reads aloud the pages he has saved on his train journey to work in the morning. He discovers the diary of a lonely young woman and pursues her, diligently. A very enjoyable fable about the impact of the written word.
