Nat is engaged to Gary, and according to her parents, just needs to marry him, have babies and get her photo taken in the social pages. She has completed a teaching degree, and wants to teach for one year in the country.
Lake Biddy is just what she needs to get away from all the pressures they have placed on her, and allows her to be herself. She fits in well with the local community, and befriends farmer Drew and his son Billy.
But it is not just being torn between her new home and fiancé Gary and her family that complicate matters. Billy’s mother comes back on the scene wanting to be part of his life. And then the school she works in is being threatened with closure by the department of education.
Real characters with believable stories make this readable novel a delight.
