Doris witnesses a car crash, where a woman dies, but her three year old daughter survives. In her last breaths the woman tells Doris something. She has held this to herself for thirty years.
In the meantime the girl has grown up, moved to London and is married. When her father has a stroke she returns to Australia to be with him. She also catches up with old friend Ethan, who she has always had feelings for. Her marriage is not everything she thought it would be, and she is left wondering what might have been if she and Ethan had got together.
Then she receives a letter from Doris and there is much more for her to deal with. A wonderful saga of family and relationships, perfect for holiday reading.
