The World Without Us is an intricate story of family, grief, pain, secrets and silences. Reading it at a busy time of year was not ideal, as it is dense in its plot and descriptions. I found it took me a long time to get into it and to finish, but was glad that I did. If I am able to, I will go back and read it again when I can dedicate more time to it. It is one of those books that will be worth a reread.
Mireille Juchau writes beautifully evoking the countryside, the community and the background of the bees. There are many layers and connections between the characters that all slowly unfold. It has been included in their books of the year and I can see why.
