Helena Pastor’s eldest son Joey didn’t turn out how she expected. As his behavior dictated what went on in the family her husband and she tried everything they knew to try and help him, and prevent the other three boys from being affected by his choices.
Then they heard of ‘the shed’, a program run by Bernie Shakeshaft, to assist disengaged teenagers. Helena volunteers, and despite Joey’s reluctance to join in, she learns from Bernie and starts to reconnect with her son. Compelling reading for parents and those working with young people.
