Generally the battle between siblings for the family’s inheritance starts once the last parent has passed away and the will has been read. Fiona Lowe shows that the manipulation and deception can start long before the body is buried. The Jamieson family appear to be a close knit family with the matriarch, Margaret, at the helm. But as Margaret’s health starts to decline the true colours of each family member starts to show.
This family are holding more secrets than most and no one seems to be immune – not even the already dearly departed! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters in this novel – particularly sisters Sarah and Ellie. Each has their own flaws but are likable nonetheless – as inherently both want what’s best for their family. Lowe’s research and own experience with inheritance battles adds to the authenticity of this novel.
