Closing Down reviewed by Marie

Sally Abbot won a prize for this novel, her first, which foresees a horrible future for Australia and the rest of the world. A global financial crisis has people homeless and walking to find shelter.

A rich grandmother, who lived alone in the House of Many Promises, provides employment and food for both people and animals. There are killing and chilling stories about refugees, and a story about a reporter and his wife. Horrific, but impressive.
