No Man is an Island reviewed by Wendy

I approached this book with interest. We have heard so much through the Australian media about Detention Centres and I was looking forward to reading about someone’s actual experience of working at Christmas Island and the Curtin Detention Centre.

Adele Dumont writes passionately and with obvious empathy for the ‘clients’, as she is told to call the refugees who enrol in her English classes. Her book is sobering, thought provoking and definitely worth reading.
