The Bone Sparrow reviewed by Marie

A horror story about a detention centre told by a Burmese boy aged about eight. The guards, known as the “jackets”, the appalling food, the lack of hope, the brutality, the fences, the despair, are all described. It is so terrible it can’t be true but the reader suspects it is. The boy is amazingly kind. He tickles the belly of rats. A compulsive read.
