The French Perfumer reviewed by Wendy

It is 1956 and Iris Turner is a civil servant who lives alone with her old cat. Her workmate finds an advertisement in the paper for a ‘Shorthand typist required by English speaker in the South of France. Live-in, full board plus salary commensurate with experience’.and convinces Iris to apply. So begins her adventure.

Iris’s new employer is an almost blind perfumer with an interesting past. Her new abode is an old French mansion which is a guest house for some even more interesting characters.

A lovely novel that will keep you guessing until the last page.
