The Gulf reviewed by Marie

A sixteen-year-old girl mothers her somewhat precocious ten-year-old brother while her real mother helps her new and abusive partner sell drugs. The dramatic adventures of the girl are told as is her escape with her brother to a foster home.

The author, Anna Spargo Ryan tells the story with a wry sense of humour, and Spencer Gulf and specifically Port Flinders are portrayed as dens of iniquity. A gripping story.
