The Walworth Beauty reviewed by Marie

Once short-listed for the Booker Prize, Michele Roberts has now written a moving account of people who lived in one part of London.

The lives of a sacked, 60ish female Lecturer in Literature, and separated by at least a century, a father of at least three, are explored.

The survival of prostitutes, the poor, the homeless and the exploited are mentioned, as is the research of Henry Mayhew. Worth reading, even for those not living in the south of London.
